Taking food

How the fridge works

The fridge is for everyone. Nobody checks who you are, what you earn, or how much you take.

01

Walk round the back

The fridge sits in a shed behind the United Methodist Church at 523 Main Street. The path is lit and open at all hours.

02

Take what you need

No forms, no ID, no appointment. Bring a bag if you can. Leave enough for the next neighbor.

03

Close the door

Shut the fridge firmly so the food stays cold, and tell us on Instagram if something looks wrong.

Neighbours restocking the fridge

What you will usually find

Milk, eggs, bread, and fresh fruit and vegetables move fastest — they are often gone within an hour of a restock. Later in the day you are more likely to find pantry staples: rice, pasta, tinned goods, and spices.

Cooked meals and sandwiches appear throughout the day as neighbors and local kitchens drop them off. If the fridge looks empty, check back soon — it fills up again.
